Are you applying? If so, good luck! I can say from experience that it is totally fun to run around feeling all important on the Hill, observing the wonks in their natural habitat, but I imagine it's even more so when you get to actually work in the same house as, um, certain extremely awesome people. ^^

My grandparents don't want me to and say I'll be on my own financially this summer if I do this, but.....Screw it I have three teachers who adore me (one who has taught at the Presidential Classroom) and will totally write up awesome recs. So YES I AM DOING THIS. I WILL WORK FOUR JOBS ON THE SIDE AND NEVER SLEEP BUT I WILL.

If I get it, any suggestions on where to live/how to live/etc?

Housing anywhere near the WH itself will be freakin' expensive, probably cheaper closer to the capitol hill side. Honestly, depending on what you're making it might make sense to look for a rent-controlled building. If and when you're looking, if you have questions or doubts about a location, let me know and I'll tell you what I think.

Other stuff, um, get a SmartTrip card for the metro, don't think you can wear high heels all the time because you will be doing a crazy amount of walking, eat at Ben's Chili Bowl, um.... gotta run to class bye!

My only concern is I'll be just out of high school (but enrolled in a college). Do you think they're looking for fresh graduates?

I don't think that would disqualify you. But I'm not Obama in disguise, so I honestly have no idea what they're looking for. Still, you should do it! Can't hurt, right?

I wish I could quit you staring at this page.

I want to intern somewhere in Washington, but I'm going to try for a lower office before like, you know, the kill.

I'm going to apply, but I already got turned down for an internship at the State Department, so there's no way I'm going to get into the White House, lol.

D: Why'd you get turned down?

...I'm just afraid if I do get accepted and they do all the background checks and ask extensive questions about my online activities they'll disqualify me.

BECAUSE FANDOM FREAKS PEOPLE OUT.

Late reply, lol.

I don't think it would be that easy to trace my fandom activity to my identity. And even if they did find your LJ, they probably wouldn't go to the trouble of getting access to your locked stuff, and they certainly couldn't go check out every comm you're a member of. So I'm not really worried about that.

My problem is that I'm not really qualified enough. I've got awesome grades but besides that, I don't really do extracurriculars, never had a real job, and don't have any internship experience. =/
